TIVERTON — The Tiverton Junior Basketball League its teams, players and sponsors that did not get a chance to complete the 2019-2020 season due to the corona virus.

The only Division that was able to crown a champion and runner-up was the C division — coed teams consisting of 8 and 9 year old boys and girls.

Campion sponsor for this division was Brookedale Sakonnet Bay Manor,

Players were Caleb De Sousa, Aden Heywood, Josef Bobola, Samuel Messenger, Aaron Desmaris, Alex Sowerby, and Dawson DeGagne.

Coaches: Robert Sedoma, Jason Heywood.

 C Division runner up sponsor was Smokehouse Gas ,

Players were Matthew Fitzgerald, Luke Fitzgerald ,Noah James,Kayden Almeida, Cameron Wilkerson, Quinn Zuber, Ben Pereira and Desiree Gauthier.

Coaches: Mike Fitzgerald and Robert Fitzgerald.

C Division third place sponsor was Nagetuck Farms.

A Division, which is also coed 7th and 8th grade, was unable to finish the playoffs. The final four teams sponsors were:

Classic Pizza, Law Office of Howe & Garside, Family Ties and Interstate Insurance.

B Division also coed 5th and 6th grade, was unable to finish their playoffs, with fve5 teams fighting for the championship.

Sponsors were Forster Orthodontics, VFW,  Tiverton Materials, Knights and Towers Insurance.   

Special awards were presented to the 8th grade boy and girl who have a 90 or higher average for the 2019-2020 basketball season (from September to April). They are  Maxwell Berche, Frank Vollaro, Addison Torio, Brian Ward, Samuel Van Saun, Michael Zellar and Charlie Vernon.

Outstanding Sportsmanship award winners were  Brooke Sowa  and Tucker Johnson.

Last award given is the Presidents Service to Youth which is presented to the person or persons who have gone above and beyond to provide for the youth of Tiverton and the community. 

This year’s recipients are Tracy Bishop and Kris Monahan who dedicated countless hours of calling and going door-to-door getting donations for the fundraisers and awards banquet, which unfortunately could not be held this year.
