Tiverton church hosting two-day Harvest Festival

Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Tiverton is holding their annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The festival includes a “Treats and Sweets” table, themed gift baskets, beautiful holiday and handmade items, books & DVDs, an assortment of raffles, and a kitchen serving great food. Kids can enjoy the children’s corner.

There is a raffle grand prize of $2,000. Purchase tickets (a book of 6 for $10 or $2 each) at the festival or by calling the Parish Office at 401-624-8131. Second prize is $750 and third prize is $500. All drawings will be held at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Find out more at www.holyghostcc.org

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
