Thomas R. Gomes, 49, of Tiverton passed away May 18, 2020, at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Fall River, he was a son of Roger F. and Donna J. (Potvin) Gomes.

A graduate of the Electrical Engineering department of UMass-Dartmouth, Mr. Gomes worked as a Production Associate at Emergent Biodefense for almost three years. He was formerly employed at the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center for 16 years.

Thomas was an avid cyclist in the Providence area. He was always in service to others and was heavily involved in the Recycle-A-Bike program, helping to provide affordable refurbished bikes to the local community.

Thomas also was a member of Beardman Bicycles of Wrentham, Mass., where he was a machinist / metal fabricator / mechanic. He was part owner of Machines with Magnets, a performance venue, recording studio and gallery in Pawtucket. He was an avid Hotwheels collector.

Along with his parents, survivors include his brother, David E. Gomes of Tiverton.

Due to current restrictions, services were private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made in Thomas’ name to Recycle-A-Bike, 1911 Westminster St., Providence, RI 02909, 401-525-1822, recycleabike.org/#donate.
