A dead dog washed up on the shore at Barrington Beach on Monday, April 8. This was the third time a dead dog has washed up on a local beach in the last few weeks.
Barrington Police said they are investigating the situation, and working with other area animal control officers and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Police said officials are conducting a necropsy on the dead dog found on April 8.
In all three occurrences, Barrington Police have checked with surrounding communities to see if there have been any reports of missing dogs; none of the washed up dogs had been reported missing.
The dogs have not been micro-chipped, police said.
