Theodore F. Prosl , 77, of Warren, died peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2019, surrounded by his family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a brave battle with throat and lung cancer.

He was the husband of Judith (Walsh) Prosl; they were married for over 57 years.

He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Frank and Hazel (Becroft) Prosl.

Ted was a Consulting Engineer for several companies, including General Dynamics - Electric Boat, Dupont and lastly The Washington Group in Houston, Texas. He worked in and traveled to many different countries on his job, including long stays in Spain and Norway.

He also taught engineering at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Ct.

He was a graduate of URI Class of 1971 with a master’s degree in Ocean Engineering, and also a graduate of UCONN, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

He had lived in Warren since 2009, coming from Houston, Texas.
Mr. Prosl had attended services at both St. Mary of the Bay Church, also at St. Alexander Church.

He was a member of the Bristol ELKS, the Eagles Club of Crystal Beach, Texas. He was active in politics.

While living in Old Lyme, Connecticut, he was a Justice of the Peace.
An avid sailor, he also enjoyed cooking and hours of grocery shopping.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Prosl of Lyme, Ct.; his brother, Frank Prosl Jr. and wife Martha of Duxbury, Ma.; and his sister, Elizabeth Salsedo and husband Carl of Burlington, Ct. He was the beloved uncle of Franzi Prosl, Gregory Prosl, Hans Prosl, Carlos Salsedo, Elizabeth Salsedo, Morgan Kelly, Regan Kelly and their extended families.

Mr. Prosl was the grandfather of Benjamin Nuissl, and Elise Nuissl and the father of the late Gretchen Prosl. He was the uncle of the late Heather (Kelly) Tourtelotte.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 9:30 am from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren.

Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are on Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
