Teddy Bear Picnic on Friday in Fall River

Posted

The ever-popular “Teddy Bear Picnic” at the Fall River Public Library take place Friday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m.

This outdoor event will include a storytime featuring such entertaining bear tales as “The Bear Came Back,” by Tami Sauer, and “BIG,” by David Worthington. Following the storytime, children will be invited to make a teddy bear craft and participate in a teddy bear parade, led by the library’s mascot, Bartholomew Bear, who will be available to greet fans and pose for pictures.

The event will also feature the annual teddy bear beauty contest, in which prizes will be awarded to the prettiest, funniest, most original, and best loved bears attending the picnic. This year the Teddy Bear Doctors will be returning to the Library to ensure sure each child’s bear stays fit as a fiddle. Teddy bears will have their heart and blood pressure checked, and receive vitamins as well as have some x-rays if needed.

“The Teddy Bear Picnic remains one of the library’s most popular children’s programs of the summer,” commented Supervisor of Children’s Services, David Mello. “Parents enjoy this event as much as the children do, with many bringing their stuffed companions from their childhood!” This event is sponsored by Rockland Trust Bank.
