Susan Mays, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Riverside, Thursday, January 23, 2020.

Born in North Kingstown, RI, a daughter of the late Charles Mays and Janet (Cote) Perry, she was a long-time resident of Warren before relocating to Riverside.

A graduate of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as an LPN for many years retiring from the Department of Elderly Affairs as a Visiting Nurse.

A nature lover, she enjoyed being outside; gardening and bird watching. An active member of New Hope Christian Church, she gave talks for the Women’s Ministry, taught in the Children’s Ministry and volunteered for multiple charities that the church supports.

She is survived by one son, Don Rodrigues of Warren; two daughters, Chelsea Berndt and her husband Andrew of East Providence and Aubrey Erez and her husband Haim of Tiburon, CA; four sisters, Debbie Confalone, Sherri Work, Darlene Corriveau and Lisa Perry; three brothers, Thomas Mays, Wayne Mays and John Perry; five grandchildren, Trevor Rodrigues, Connor Berndt and Ben, Ethan and Isabel Erez; three great-grandchildren, Lilly Mello and Violet and Willow Rodrigues; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the New Hope Christian Church, 1436 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA. For tributes and directions, www.wilbur-romano.com

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
