PORTSMOUTH — It was a tale of two halves inside the Portsmouth High School field house Monday night.
Burrillville High School went into halftime with a one-point lead over the Patriots in a Division II boys’ basketball game, but later were overwhelmed as Portsmouth outscored the Broncos 44-21 in the second half for a convincing 66-44 win.
Justin Parsons led the Patriots with 18 points, followed by Luke Hyder (150 and Robbie Yates (14).
Also contributing on offense were Ben Hurd (9 points, including two 3-pointers), Owen Gugliotta (6), and Jack Bielawa (4).
The Broncos’ Sam Clifford led all scorers with 25 points.
Portsmouth is now 6-2 in D-2 and 7-3 overall for the season. The loss dropped Burrillville to 1-6 in league play and 2-8 overall.

The Patriots hit the road for games against Pilgrim High School on Friday, Jan. 24, and then Tiverton on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The team will return home to face North Providence on Thursday, Jan. 30.
All three games start at 7 p.m.
