PORTSMOUTH — It was a tale of two halves inside the Portsmouth High School field house Monday night.

Burrillville High School went into halftime with a one-point lead over the Patriots in a Division II boys’ basketball game, but later were overwhelmed as Portsmouth outscored the Broncos 44-21 in the second half for a convincing 66-44 win.

Justin Parsons led the Patriots with 18 points, followed by Luke Hyder (150 and Robbie Yates (14).

Also contributing on offense were Ben Hurd (9 points, including two 3-pointers), Owen Gugliotta (6), and Jack Bielawa (4).

The Broncos’ Sam Clifford led all scorers with 25 points.

Portsmouth is now 6-2 in D-2 and 7-3 overall for the season. The loss dropped Burrillville to 1-6 in league play and 2-8 overall.
