Another year, another run, another beer.
The Christopher Stone Foundation will hold its annual Finish for a Guinness at 10 a.m. this coming Sunday, Sept. 1, leading hundreds of runners on a 5K tour down Water Street to Seymour and back, where a cool pint of Guinness and great food awaits.
This is the 11th year for the race, which was started in 2009 by sisters Tara Thibaudeau, Erin Kopecky, Amy Stone, Holly DaSilveira and Shannon Barnowsk. They founded it in honor of Christopher Stone, Amy's husband, who died shortly after the inaugural running from Lou Gehrig's Disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
The race has been run every year since, and to date the sisters' foundation has raised more than $130,000 to benefit ALS research and also to help community members who are fighting serious illness. It's also grown into a huge party, with many hundreds running every year. They're drawn not just by the competition, but by the fun afterwards — the grounds of the Old Warren Marina turn into a giant open-air restaurant after the run, with a large beer booth and many tables and booths set up and run by local restaurants. For runners who enter the race (for adults the fee is $30 prior to and $35 on the day of the race) every- thing is free, including a commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt.
All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a long- sleeved T-shirt. Number pick-up is available on Saturday, Aug. 31 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Old Warren Marina, 66 Church St. It also can be done on race day.

A note for those not running: Seek alternative travel routes on Sunday morning between 9:30 am and 11 am. The race will close down parts of Water Street and Main Street during the height of the run. Please utilize Metacom Avenue and Franklin Street to get into or out of town.
