Staffing issues related to virus shut down in-person learning at East Providence High School
Students, staff will distance learn for November 19, 20
EAST PROVIDENCE —
The most recent positive tests for COVID-19 and resulting close contacts with a person infected by the virus has led the administration to close East Providence High School for in-person instruction the rest of the week.
Superintendent Kathryn Crowley made the announcement around noontime on Wednesday, Nov. 18, citing staffing issues at the high school.
Pupils and personnel will distance learn for Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19 and 20. The superintendent left open the possibility of returning to in-person attendance for the start of Thanksgiving week.
As with all schools in the district, EPHS students and staff were involved in virtually instruction Wednesday, when buildings are closed weekly for deep cleaning and sterilization.
The latest COVID-19 patients and those affected through contact tracing are following quarantine guidelines set up the state Department of Health.
