Special fund-raiser planned for Jan. 30 at Barrington Yacht Club

Posted

The Barrington High School sailing team will hold a fund-raising dinner on Thursday, Jan. 30.

The event will be held at Barrington Yacht Club from 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature a special guest speaker Amanda Callahan, who is an award-winning coach and national sailing champion.

“Amanda will deliver an engaging and educational talk, appealing to sailors and non-sailors alike, making this an event for everyone—grandparents, children, and community members of all backgrounds,” stated a press release from the BHS sailing team.

In addition to Callahan’s talk, there will be a silent auction featuring exciting items, such as restaurant gift cards, sailing gear, and tickets to sporting events.

Tickets for the BHS sailing team fund-raiser are $40 for adults and $30 for students.

Barrington High School Sailing is funded primarily by its sailors. Expenses such as boat repairs, transportation, and accommodations for regattas across the country are significant. Over the years, the Barrington team has traveled to compete in places like Chicago, New York, Annapolis, Virginia, New Jersey, New Orleans, Florida, Maine, and Connecticut. The local team has brought home numerous trophies.

“Proceeds from this event will help ensure that our sailors continue to compete at a high level and represent our community on a national stage,” stated the press release.

For more information or to purchase tickets, email sailing@barringtonschools.org or Venmo — the payment will serve as the RSVP. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
