Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse will receive the Save Bristol Harbor Joe Arruda Environmental Stewardship Award, which is given in memory of Joe, a board member and passionate advocate for preserving and protecting the environment. The stewardship award is given for outstanding service in the cleanup, restoration and protection of Bristol waters and watershed.

This year’s award will be presented at the annual meeting of the membership on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. at Judge Roy Bean’s on the second floor. The public is invited to attend.

Sen. Whitehouse is being honored for his efforts to find solutions to address climate change, to position Rhode Island as a leader in the clean energy economy and to protect the ocean and coasts for future generations to come.

Save Bristol Harbor believes that Sen. Whitehouse has demonstrated exceptional environment stewardship in his tenure in Washington that will have long-term positive impact for Bristol’s waters.
