TIVERTON — An early Sunday morning rollover accident on Route 24 in Tiverton left the driver injured and the car a total wreck.

The Tiverton Fire Department reports that at around 4:20 a.m. a northbound car went off the highway, through a guardrail and down an embankment, coming to rest on its roof.

When firefighters and police arrived, the driver had managed to escape the car. That person was treated for what were called non-life-threatening injuries and transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Nobody else was in the vehicle when it crashed.

Tiverton police are investigating the accident.
