Robert J. Donato, 59, of Bristol

Robert J. Donato, 59, of Bristol, R.I., passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born in Providence, a son of Patricia (Tyrell) Donato of Bristol and the late John Donato.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his sons, Isaac Donato and Elijah Donato, both of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was the brother of John P. Donato of North Attleboro, Mass., Karen DiMeglio of Providence, R.I., and Patricia Carlson of North Kingstown, R.I.

He was the uncle of Emelyn Carlson, Ryan Carlson, Ellie DiMeglio and Ava DiMeglio.

He was the former husband of Joanne Mayopoulos of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was a graduate of Bristol High School and received a graphic arts degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta. He worked in the jewelry industry, concentrating in design and repairs. He also had the ability to do scrimshaw, worked with leather and painted. He was a member of the East Warren Rod and Gun Club.

Bob loved his hometown of Bristol and was very proud when his design was chosen for the 1992 Bristol 4th of July T-shirt. He enjoyed fishing and being near the water. He truly loved his family and friends as well as any animal that came his way. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI.

Calling hours and flowers are omitted. A fund for Bob’s children has been established. Donations can be made out to Karen DiMeglio and sent to PO Box 941, Bristol, RI 02809
