RIHA to Host Hotel Boot Camp Training Classes

With Providence gaining four new hotels by the end of 2019, trained entry-level employees are in high demand. Join the Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) for a hands-on, three-week Hotel Boot Camp, including a one-week immersive hotel work experience in front desk operations, food and beverage operations, housekeeping operations, resume writing and interview skills.

Three-week Hotel Boot Camp Training, including one-week of hotel-work experience.

Class Schedule:

October 15 – October 28: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday)

October 29 – November 5: On-site work experience at area hotel. *On-site experience schedule will vary*

November 6: Graduation from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
