PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced another component to the expected eight-week project replacing the span on Pawtucket Avenue over Interstate 195.
The on-ramp from Pawtucket Avenue headed south onto I-195 West will be closed for reconstruction Saturday morning, April 29, at 7 a.m. through Monday morning, May 1, at 6 a.m. I-195 on-ramps located at Broadway and Warren Avenue remain available to drivers during the weekend construction.
Bridge traffic was initially reduced from four lanes for both north and southbound traffic (two lanes each way) to just two (one each way) two weeks ago.
The ramp to I-195 itself has also been reduced to accepting only southbound traffic off Pawtucket Avenue. Motorists heading north can no longer take a left onto the ramp. They, too, must use alternative access on Broadway of Warren Avenue. The ramp will remain closed to northbound traffic on Pawtucket Ave. until the summer.
