Rhode Island Hospitality Association to Host Active Shooter Training Class

Join the RI Hospitality Association (RIHA) and Rhode Island State Police for an informative Active Shooter Training Course on Wednesday, April 24th at The Ballroom at the Providence G in Providence. This one-day course, open to RIHA members, will prepare attendees for the event of an active shooter in the workplace.

Recent mass shootings have had global reverberations. With the unfortunate events surrounding active shooters in the workplace, it is essential that workers are prepared. Those critical first minutes are crucial to survival to potential victims and possible causalities. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and move quickly, and this course is designed to help participants prepare for these life-changing situations.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
