Each week the Personal Injury Law Offices of d’Oliviera & Associates compile a summary of recalls, FDA warnings, market withdrawals and safety alerts that they feel the public should be aware of for their safety and so that they can make informed decisions.

Here are 25 recalls to be aware of this week:

Medical Devices & Equipment
Pharmaceuticals/Drugs
  • Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals is recalling one lot of Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets, an estrogen/progestin combination oral contraceptive. The product is being recalled due to out-of-specification (OOS) dissolution results at the 3-month stability time point.
Auto
  • Mazda North American Operations is recalling 2,476 model year 2016 Miata MX-5s. The skid plate and metal bracket may detach from underneath the vehicle. Parts that separate from the vehicle may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Mazda North American Operations is recalling 9,430 model year 2019 Mazda3s. The seat cover material on both front seats may interfere with the head restraint lock release button, causing it to stick in the release position and not allow the head restraint to lock into place.
  • Maserati North America is recalling 427 model year 2019 Levantesequipped with full LED headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS). The headlights may be misadjusted above the maximum height allowed, possibly impairing other driver’s visibility on the roadway. Affecting the visibility of oncoming traffic can increase the risk of a crash.
  • Subaru of America is recalling 166 model year 2019 Ascents. The center support bolts for the driveshaft may loosen, possibly resulting in the front portion of the driveshaft disconnecting. If the front end of the driveshaft separates, it can increase the risk of a crash.
  • Porsche Cars North America is recalling 7,517 model year 2016-2017 911s & Boxsters, and model year 2016 Caymans & Panameras. The airbag Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may have a defective power supply capacitor that can result in airbag deactivation or inadvertent deployment of the airbags.
  • About 200K Nissan Altima cars need suspensions fixed as NHTSA continues investigation. Nissan will do a “service campaign” to fix nearly 200,000 Altima midsize cars because a suspension part can come loose from the frame due to corrosion.
  • Volkswagen is recalling 27,822 Tiguan crossovers and CC sedans due to faulty airbag electronic control units (ECUs) that could create dangerous situations for drivers. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the airbags could be completely deactivated or could unexpectedly deploy.
Utility/Recreational Vehicles & Automotive Accessories
  • Winnebago recalls model year 2018-2019 Forza motorhomes. The exterior storage compartment door may open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving.
Food, Beverage & Nutritional Supplements
  • Bimbo Bakeries USA Voluntary Recall of Entenmann’s Little Bites Cookies Due to Potential Presence of Plastic Pieces.
  • Cookie Dough Cafe recalls Chocolate Chip Chilled Gourmet Edible Cookie Dough Bar. The product may contain peanuts, an allergen not declared on the label.
  • Ruleau Brothers Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Eggs, Soy, and Anchovies in “Door County Whitefish Smoked Whitefish Pate“.
  • Conagra Brands, Inc. is recalling approximately 32,400 pounds of canned beef products due to a potential processing defect, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products.
  • Conagra recalls ‘Beefy Mac’ for processing defect, possible bacteria. After routine inspection activities uncovered a potential processing defect that could allow bacterial pathogens to survive, Conagra recalled a beef and pasta product from distributors and retailers in four states.
  • PreGel America, Inc. of Concord, North Carolina is voluntarily recalling a single lot of Lemon 50, a powdered flavoring. The product is being recalled due to the possible presence of undeclared milk in the product.
  • Euphoria Fancy Food recalls ‘Tainy Vostoka Assorted Dry Fruits-Apple‘. The product contains sulfites not declared on the label.
  • Premium Foods USA recalls various Siluriformes fish products. The products were not inspected for entry into the U.S.
Infant & Children Products
  • Dorel Juvenile Group USA Recalls Inclined Sleepers Due to Safety Concerns About Inclined Sleep Products. Infant fatalities have been reported while using other inclined sleep products, after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances.
  • H&M Hennes & Mauritz is recalling about 9,000 children’s pajama sets. The garments fail to meet the flammability standard for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.
  • London Bridge Recalls Sock and Wrist Rattle Sets Due to Choking Hazard. Rattles sewn inside the socks and wristbands can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Pet Food & Animal Products
  • The Lennox Intl Inc is expanding its voluntary recall of its Natural Pig ears because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Household Products
  • Tristar Products Recalls Magnetic Trivets Due to Magnet Ingestion Hazard. Magnets can detach from the trivets, posing an ingestion hazard to children. When two or more magnets are swallowed, they can link together inside the intestines and clamp onto body tissues, causing intestinal obstructions, perforations, sepsis and death. Internal injury from magnets can pose serious lifelong health effects.
Miscellaneous
  • Super Jumper Recalls Trampolines Due to Fall and Injury Hazards. The welds on the metal railings (legs) can fail, posing fall and injury hazards.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
