Re-assert your November council choice by not voting

To the editor:

What kind of sense does this make that the “recallers” want you to remove (for the vaguest of reasons, and certainly no alleged crime or corruption) two of the town councilors you duly elected last November, Justin Katz with 2,348 votes, and Rob Coulter with 2,020 votes, and then fill the vacancies with two people who did not get enough votes to get elected: Stephen Clarke and John Edwards (the former council member who only received 1,949 votes). It makes no sense.

But you can stop this nonsense in its tracks and ensure your vote in last November’s election is not nullified. You see, the recall process demands as a first hurdle that a certain number of people show up to vote. So, if you do not vote, you can defeat this recall. You will be re-asserting your November vote and preference.

Make no mistake, this is a political ploy, initiated by a petitioner who has a $4 million lawsuit against the town, joined by town council members hungry for a return to power, and now joined by outside union forces like the NEA. Don’t let them play you. Don’t let them mess with your vote.

Make them honor your prior vote by sitting this one out. Coulter and Katz, your elected town council members, are doing exactly what they pledged to do if elected.
