TIVERTON — They were crushed when their playoffs were cancelled due to coronavirus, but happier moments for the Tiverton girls soccer team came in the season finale against Providence Country Day, a hard-fought and well-played match won 1-0 by the Tigers.
Mariah Ramos scored the game winner on a second-half header with about 35 minutes left in the game. Getting the assist was teammate Maddie Mello.
Emma Lopes played in goal for Tiverton.
For Ramos, the goal was career number 100, an especially noteworthy feat given that the season had been shortened. Afterwards she and her teammates celebrated with a group photo, signs and cheers.
This is the second milestone for the multi-sport athlete. Last winter she scored her 1,000th point as a Tiverton High basketball player.
