Westport firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 48 Devol Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. Friday.  The first arriving crew reported fire on the exterior of the front side of the building.

The fire had been spotted by a resident of the home, who called 911 to report the blaze. Westport responded with two engines and one tanker truck. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it burned through and into the attic.

Mutual aid was requested for manpower and water supply from both the Tiverton Fire Department and Dartmouth Fire District 3, however both departments were cancelled prior to their arrival due to the quick extinguishment of the fire. There were no reported injuries. Damage is estimated at $15,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Westport Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal's office.

While Westport firefighters were operating at the scene of this structure fire, Little Compton Fire Department provided mutual aid to an alarm activation on Main Road, while Dartmouth EMS provided mutual for a medical call on Route 88.
