Question: Do you support “Option 2B” of the schools’ master facilities plan? Why or why not?

Frazier Bell (I) — “No. I will listen to our community. I support investment, but that can take many forms. Barrington residents clearly support preserving neighborhood schools, which create a comfortable learning environment for our youngest students. The option to save our schools was not even presented as a possibility by our paid consultant.”

TJ Peck (I) — “No. The Barrington neighborhood school system is an incredibly important part of our community. Options to invest in our neighborhood schools through renovations and additions have been intentionally removed from consideration by the consultant. I support a large investment in our schools in order to meet the needs of students.”

Margaret Reid (D) — “I believe we need find our way to yes. We must learn from the flaws in the process, but with students learning in the cafeteria and receiving therapies in repurposed closets, space issues are urgent. 2B includes substantial flexibility at this stage; together let’s find a path forward.”

Rudy Seber (D) — “Yes, I will always put the interests of the entire student community first to ensure Barrington stays a Great Destination and its current infrastructure can not do that. There is still flexibility in 2B and as a proud Sowams father and volunteer, I will listen to all options moving forward.”
