Collection of yard waste ends this week, bulk items also suspended temporarily

EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Department of Public Works has announced due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic the following changes have been made to rubbish collections:

Mattress, appliance, yard waste and bulky item collections have all been suspended for the month of April. This is effective immediately and will be reassessed at the end of the April.

The collector will only be collecting trash that is in bags and in a barrel. No bulky items such as furniture or other household items placed at the curb will be collected.

The city’s collection contractor is operating with a limited crew and the main goal is to have the weekly rubbish collected while keeping employees safe.

Note, yard waste will be collected through this week ending April 3. Beginning April 6, residents who are able and would like to drop off yard waste material can do so Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city’s Forbes Street compost area. Recycling will continue to be collected as scheduled.
