Portsmouth’s odd-even water restrictions end

Ban went into effect on Aug. 21

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Water and Fire District has lifted its mandatory odd-even water conservation restrictions effective Monday, Sept. 14.

According to Philip Driscoll, chairman of the Administrative Board, the mandatory restrictions are no longer required, as water demand has returned to normal levels due to cooler temperatures.

The District had implemented a mandatory odd-even water ban for outside water use on Aug. 21.

Mr. Driscoll said the mandatory conservation efforts were successful in helping to reduce peak water demand to a manageable level during this period of extended dry weather conditions.

On behalf of the Administrative Board and the District’s staff, Mr. Driscoll thanked District customers for their understanding and cooperation with the water conservation program. He also recommended that customers continue to practice water conservation as a matter of course.
