PORTSMOUTH — A 32-year-old Coventry man was arrested by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division on Monday, Sept. 16, following an investigation into the solicitation of a minor for sexual activity.

The investigation revealed that Jacob Garzarelli, of 3217 Flat River Road, had traveled from Fall River to the Portsmouth area to engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl, Detective Lt. Lee Trott stated in a press release.

Detectives located Garzarelli inside of a business on East Main Road and subsequently took him into custody.

Inside Garzarelli’s vehicle, detectives located a USB drive, a tablet, and numerous other items of evidentiary value, according to Trott, adding a pornographic image of a minor was found on the tablet.

Garzarelli was arraigned on the following charges at 2nd Division District Court in Newport:

• Indecent solicitation of a minor

• Electronically disseminating indecent material to minors

• Possession of child pornography

He was released on $5,000 surety bail, which included a special condition of no unsupervised contact with persons under 16, as well as limited internet access.
