Portsmouth man charged with cocaine possession after search

PORTSMOUTH — A 49-year-old local man was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana Friday morning, Jan. 24.

Sidney J. Goodson, of 3338 East Main Road was taken into custody after the Portsmouth Detective Division and the Newport Police Narcotics Division executed a search warrant for his home.

The investigation stemmed from a joint investigation into illicit drug sales, according to Deputy Police Chief Michael Arnold.

Mr. Goodson was later taken to 2nd District Court in Newport and arraigned on the charges of manufacturing/possession/delivery of Schedule I-II and  possession of marijuana (one ounce or less).

Wednesday, Jan. 8

Kerri J. Brightman, 49, of 8 Middleton Road, Bristol, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) following a motor vehicle accident in the area of Wapping Road and Bramans Lane at about 10:10 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 12

Richard E. Mendonsa, 44, of 3277 East Main Road, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to his home after receiving a 911 hangup call at about 5:40 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

Henry M. Johnson, 28, of 65 East Washington St., Apt. 3105, North Attleborough, Mass., was arrested on a 3rd District Court bench warrant after the vehicle in which he was riding was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Boyds Lane at about 2 a.m.

Kevin J. Kenney, 53, of 308 Jepson Lane, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct after being arrested on a warrant at his home at about 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 15

Khalil M. Carrington Fowlkes, 23, of 2 Sgt. Green Way, Newport, was charged with the fraudulent use of credit cards after being arrested on a warrant at the police station at about 9 a.m.

William Camara, 72, of 443 Old Fall River Road, Swansea, was arrested on an arrest warrant at the police station shortly before 5 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 17

Chad L. Cunningham, 45, of 4A Ludlow Lane, Middletown, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), and driving without an active license, after being pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Freeborn Street shortly before 9 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 18

Anthony R. Scolamiero, 27, of 65 Collins St., Bristol, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Turnpike Avenue at about 12:35 a.m. He was also cited for refusing a chemical test, police said. 

Lauren A. Dias, 32, of 111 Haffards St., Fall River, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after police responded to Route 24 North at West Main Road around 1:45 a.m. to assist a motorist. 

Tuesday, Jan. 21

Justin S. Blechar, 21, of 104 Phillips Ave., New Bedford, was charged with possession of marijuana (first offense) after police responded to Flo’s Clam Shack on Park Avenue to investigate a report of suspicious activity at about 1:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

Jeffrey Medeiros, 30, of 100 Sandra Lee Lane, Tiverton, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident on West Main Road at Hedly Street at about 3:20 a.m. He was also cited for refusing a chemical test, his second offense, according to police.

Michael J. Moller, 40, of 3 Rolling Green Drive, Apt. C, Fall River, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant after the vehicle in which he was riding was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 24 South at West Main Road around 7 p.m.

Peter J. Kelly, Jr., 49, of 21 Cathy Circle, was charged with driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offense), after being pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at the Mobil Xtra Mart shortly after 9 p.m. 

Thursday, Jan. 23

Clint A. Cole, 35, of 110 Park Holm, Newport, was charged with driving after his license had been denied, suspended or revoked. His vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on Burma Road at the Weaver Cove boat ramp at about 3:25 p.m.
