Girls’ varsity volleyball team off to a strong start

PORTSMOUTH — Last week the Portsmouth High girls’ varsity volleyball team won one the hard way, then another the easy way.

On Wednesday, March 24 on the road against Pilgrim High, the Patriots lost the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17 before regrouping to take the next two, 25-15 and 25-17. 

Portsmouth took the final set, 15-6, to win the match 3-2.

The Patriots made it look easy against Tolman High on Friday, winning 3-0 by scores of 25-10, 25-5 and 25-16. 

The team is scheduled to play Toll Gate on the road Tuesday night before returning home to host Mt. Hope at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.

The Patriots host Classical at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, before traveling to Juanita Sanchez Complex for a 6 p.m. game on Friday, April 9.
