PORTSMOUTH — A gun that was reported stolen from a Massachusetts home earlier this month was recovered by Portsmouth Police Sunday night at an Island Park bar.
According to Detective Lt. Michael Arnold, members of the Detective Division and patrol officers responded to CJ’s Pub, 568 Park Ave., around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 after receiving information that a firearm may have been hidden on the premises.
“Upon arrival at the establishment, a loaded .38 caliber revolver was recovered, which was hidden inside a bathroom,” Lt. Arnold said in a prepared statement.
“Further investigation revealed that the gun had been stolen from a home in Falmouth, Massachusetts several months ago,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Detectives Division at 401/643-0194 or the general line at 401/683-0300, he said.
CJ’s Pub was formally known as the Island Tap before it was sold last year.
