Two suspects wanted in connection to a Bristol investigation were shot in downtown Providence Friday night, according to police reports.

The suspects were wanted in connection with a "deceased person" in Bristol, reports abc6.com. Social media reports indicate a woman may have been killed somewhere in the Sowams Road area. Bristol Police did not immediately return requests for comment.

Police have identidied Raymond Paiva, 24, and his girlfriend, Selena Martinez, 21, who were being sought by police Friday night in connection with the death of Paiva’s grandmother in Bristol.

Providence Police shot the two suspects on Branch Avenue after spotting a car matching the description wanted by Bristol Police, wpri.com reports. Provice officers gave chace, , finally cornering them after the suspects appeared to crash. Police reportedly fired on the suspects, hitting one mand and one woman. It is unclear if the suspects had fired at police, according to reports.

The suspects were reportedly taken to R.I. Hospital. Mr. Paiva is reportedly critically wounded. Both remain hospitalized Saturday night.

Bristol Police have not yet made a statement on the investigation. Check back with eastbayri.com for more information as it becomes available.
