Motorist claims man walking with trick-or-treaters threw a beer at his car

Barrington Police responded to an incident involving trick-or-treaters and a passing car on Halloween night, Oct. 31.

Police received a 911 call at about 8:10 p.m. for a suspicious condition in the Hazelton Road in the north end of Barrington. According to the dispatcher’s report, the caller told police that a person driving a white car had stopped his vehicle and was throwing rocks at kids and other people at a local home.

Barrington Police responded to the area and spoke with a witness who shared a different account of the incident. The witness allegedly told police that a man who was walking with a group of trick-or-treaters saw the white vehicle approaching and yelled at the driver to slow down. The witness saw the vehicle then return a short time later.

Police located the vehicle at a nearby residence and spoke to the driver — the man told police that a man who was with the trick-or-treaters threw a beer at his vehicle. He denied throwing anything at the families that were trick-or-treating. Police said no one was charged.
