Barrington resident had been helping buyer with financing

Posted

A Barrington resident contacted police on Wednesday, April 1 regarding a civil matter — the resident had sold a car to a man and agreed to assist the man with financing.

However, the buyer had stopped making payments for the vehicle recently and now was not answering phone calls, the resident said.

Police later learned that the resident had located the vehicle — it had been left at a car lot in Johnston. But when the resident called that car lot he was told that the vehicle, a Tesla, had been stolen from the lot two days earlier but people there had not filed a police report.

Police have been unable to locate the suspect.
