A Brookfield Avenue resident in Barrington called police on Monday, Jan. 3 at about 10:45 p.m. to report a stolen vehicle.
The resident said the vehicle had been left unlocked and there was a key inside the vehicle. Police issued a notice to surrounding departments about the stolen vehicle — a 2021 Chevrolet.
According to the dispatch log, the vehicle was spotted by RI State Police traveling south on Route 95. State police pursued the vehicle for a time, but were unable to stop it. Police said it appeared that the stolen vehicle was operating with a second vehicle during the chase — that vehicle had been reported stolen out of Connecticut.
Police, with assistance from OnStar, were later able to locate the stolen Chevrolet outside a residence in East Haven, Conn. Police in Connecticut seized the vehicle.
