Barrington Police charged Dustin W. Pennington, 39, of 5 Greenville Drive, with domestic-disorderly conduct, domestic-vandalism/malicious injury to property, use/possession of Class C fireworks < $500, and vandalism/malicious injury to property on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Police received a call from a resident at about 10:20 p.m., who said someone was lighting off fireworks in the area. Police responded and spoke to Mr. Pennington, who denied the accusation.

Police left the scene, but received another call about someone lighting off fireworks again in the Greenville Drive area. Police returned and again spoke to Mr. Pennington, who again denied the accusation.

Police had just returned to their cruisers a short distance from Mr. Pennington's residence when they heard the sound of glass breaking.

Police returned to Mr. Pennington's home and discovered that he had smashed a window at his own home, and when police entered the home they found a shirtless Mr. Pennington preparing to load a crossbow.

Police took Mr. Pennington into custody. Police said that while Mr. Pennington was locked up at the station, he repeatedly kicked the cell door and overflowed the toilet, flooding the cell. Police transported Mr. Pennington to a hospital for evaluation.
