Phyllis Hunt, of Seekonk and formerly of Barrington, passed peacefully on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2019, surrounded by her loving children. Born May 25, 1932 to Carl Alfred Himberg and Emma Augusta (Mensledge) Himberg in Boston, she was a woman of deep faith, a believer in honest hard work. Her life's passion was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by five sons; Robert, Brian, David, Andrew, William, and one daughter, Jennifer. She leaves six daughters in laws; Jeanne, Kathy, Wendy, Dawn, Kathleen Joan,15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis worked at Rhode Island College for over 25 years retiring from a position in the career development office. She was constantly bettering herself, ultimately earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. All the while, she was an active member of her church, her church choir and donating her time to help those in her community less fortunate than herself. The love of her family, friends and caregivers will continue to offer cherished memories of a life well lived.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at a memorial service to be held in her honor on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church at 49 Middle Highway in Barrington, RI. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to St. James Lutheran Church in her name.
