The 23rd Annual Hopeworth Bocce league championship was held last Saturday evening, Aug. 31, with lots of good competitive fun had by all involved.

“Thank you to all the teams and players for making this a fun, exciting and successful season. Last night was an evening of great food, great friendship and some damn good bocce,” said Mark Fischer, Commissioner of the Hopeworth Community Association Bocce League. “It has been a very exciting and well played week of Bocce play-off games culminating with the crowning of a new League Champion.”

The Bocce Ballers were crowned as the League Champs, defeating Phoenix in two games to win the title. Phoenix finished the season with the best overall record.

“A special thanks to Roger Mercier (Fugawees) for his expertise in preparing and maintaining the bocce court,” Fischer said. “The court last night, as well as it has been all season long, was in excellent shape. This is not an easy task and takes a great deal of time and effort to be sure we play our games on a well-manicured court.”
