Philippe Drapeau of Tiverton, R.I. joined his true love and wife Doris (St. Laurent) Drapeau, on Oct. 8, 2018 and sailed away. He was surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Drapeau-Walker (David) of Jamestown; and his son, Philippe Drapeau (Carol) of Tiverton; three grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

He was proud to be a World War ll veteran. Phil learned a trade when he returned home from the Army and co-founded Allied Floor Covering with his good friend, Bill Coffey. They operated Allied until their retirement at a young age in 1990.

Phil loved boats and cars. He fulfilled his passion and managed to own many sailboats throughout his life. Doris, his first mate, and he sailed every and any good day, usually accompanied by one of his loyal Golden Retrievers. After retiring he established himself as the Sunfish expert of Tiverton, and had many boats in restoration to be sailed again.

He was well-travelled and had a vivid memory of all of his adventures around the world. He remembered everything. A Toga party in Rome was one of his favorite stories.
