Philip Joseph Rezendes, 60, of Kissimmee, Fla.

Philip Joseph Rezendes, 60, passed away at home, on March 20,2020. Formerly of Bristol, R.I., he was a resident of Kissimmee, Fla.

He was the son of the late Joseph Rezendes and Dolores Moitoso Rezendes of Bristol. He was a 1978 graduate of Bristol High School.

Philip worked at Disney World, Bristol County Dodge, and the Providence Journal. He was an avid New England sports fan.

He is survived by his loving son, Philip J. Rezendes of Kissimmee, Fla., and loving daughter, Keri Irvine, and his pride and joy, his granddaughters Kayla and Allanah Irvine of Newport Richie, Fla. He also leaves his siblings, Anne D. Ricci, Alfred J. Rezendes, J. Perry Rezende and Mark F. Rezendes, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Philip’s life will be held with a Mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Bristol, R.I. on July 6, 2020, at 10 a.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
