Paul Andrew Lockwood, 88, Tiverton

Posted

Paul Andrew Lockwood passed away peacefully on December 15, 2019, in Tiverton at the age of 88.

Paul was born in Cambridge, Mass., in 1934 to Paul and Catherine (Robinson) Lockwood and spent his formative years in Belmont, Mass..  He took great pride in his “Double Eagle” status, attending Boston College High, then graduating from Boston College.  He remained a devoted BC sports fan his entire life.  He enjoyed his final BC football game surrounded by his family just two weeks before his passing.

Paul served during the Korean war and was stationed in Alaska as an Army Intelligence Officer. He went on to enjoy a successful career with U.S. Steel for over 30 years, working in their Boston, New York and Pittsburgh offices.

Throughout his working and retirement life, he was active in his Church as a lector and St. Vincent de Paul volunteer.  He was on the board of his West Palm Beach homeowners’ association and was a hospice volunteer for 10 years. He also delivered Meals on Wheels.

Paul was an accomplished tennis player, who enjoyed playing the game well into his 70s, and followed the sport all of his life.  He was an excellent cribbage player.  He delighted in his family’s enjoyment of their summer home on Prudence Island.

In 1959 he married Jeanne C. Lussier who preceded him in death in 1995.  He is survived by their five adult children, Ann Marie Lockwood (Peach Warren), Kathy Mahon (David), Paul J. Lockwood, Marybeth Hans (Billy) and Janet Roa (Daren).  Paul loved spending time with his eight grandchildren Billy Hans, Celia Hans, Joey Lockwood, Bella Lockwood, AJ Roa, Luke Roa, Sam Roa, and Camille Lockwood.

He was blessed to enjoy a second marriage of 23 years to Jacqueline (Caron) Pelletier, who survives him.  Paul and Jackie spent 20 wonderful winters in Florida.  In the summer months they lived in Tiverton, surrounded by Jackie’s children and grandchildren. The Lockwood and Pelletier children had great joy during those years, watching Paul and Jackie live the full and happy retirement that they both so richly deserved.

Paul is survived by his two sisters, Marie T. Landino of Woburn, Mass., and Sara Armstrong King of Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He also leaves his friend and brother-in-law, Lenny Landino.  Paul was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, Sandy Callard (Don), Linda Landino-Martin (Bob), Susan Bydlon (Roland), Michael Landino (Melanie), Stephen Armstrong (Lori), Donna Landino, and Barbara Landino.

Paul’s proudest achievement of his working career was providing a college education for his five children. His commitment to work, second only to God and family, inspired all who knew him and - most certainly - those who loved him.

Paul’s family would like to extend their gratitude and sincerest thanks for the compassionate, quality care that he received from the nursing staff at the Brookdale-Sakonnet Bay Health Center and the Beacon Hospice.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that Paul become very passionate about later in life.

A celebration of Paul’s life was entrusted with the Boule Funeral Home 615 Broadway. Online guestbook available at www.boulefuneralhome.com
