Patricia Ann Hood Howland, 90, of Prudence Island

Posted

Patricia Ann Hood Howland, 90, of Prudence Island, Rhode Island, and Vero Beach, Fla., chose to leave this earth March 25, 2018. Born in Springfield, Vermont, she was the daughter of Homer Chester Hood and Hannah Olivia Talbee Hood.

She graduated from Edgewood Park Junior College for Women, Briarcliff Manor, New York, with a degree in fashion design. She met and married George Powers Howland in Rome, N.Y., moving to Attleboro, Mass., where they raised their two daughters. She was a member of the DAR, volunteered at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro Museum, Cancer Society, Humane Society and worked in high end retail throughout her career.

She spent every summer on Prudence Island from the time she was born. Her kitchens in both Attleboro and Prudence were always the meeting place for the neighborhood kids and dogs, treats for the kids, biscuits for the dogs.

Upon retiring, Mom and Dad moved to Vero Beach, where they spent the next 25 years enjoying their lives to the fullest with family and friends. Her cherished husband left on his own journey September of 2014. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Talbee Howland and Nancy Powers Howland, along with her grandson, Timothy Robert Jones.

A memorial service will be held at Grove Isle Thursday, April 5, 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Contributions may be made to The Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice House of Vero Beach.

Fly high, Mom.
