The Westport Cultural Council will host its ninth annual film series in a special way in 2020. This year, the WCC has collaborated with the Westport Recreation Department to organize the very first Outdoor Movie Night in a safe and creative way to bring a community activity to residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outdoor Movie Night, is free and open to the public made possible through a grant from the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust.
Outdoor Movie Night will take place on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 6:30 pm. with a rain date of Saturday, September 26, at 6:30 pm. The screening will be on the lawn in front of the outdoor stage behind the Town Hall Annex building at 856 Main Road, Westport, MA.
The screening begins with a few old-time Merri Melodies cartoons followed by Academy Award winning film, “The Red Balloon” directed by Albert Lamorisse. The Director sets his son, Pascal, in the timeless streets of Paris for a magical adventure! Still a classic, the Red Balloon will pick you up!
Outdoor Movie Night will be in strict compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols. Social distancing and masks will be required of anyone attending in this public venue. Per the Governor’s orders, the maximum number of participants is limited to 50 at an outdoor gathering. Participants would be required to take away anything they bring with them.
Families and kids ages 10+ are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs for sitting on the lawn. Please note that chairs would have to be placed to the rear to allow the lawn audience to see the screen.
