EAST PROVIDENCE — An East Providence Police cruiser was one of four vehicles involved in a multi-car accident in the rain Sunday night, Nov. 27. No serious injuries were reported.

The crash took place at the intersection of Pawtucket Avenue and Taunton Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on roadways still quite slick from downpours most on the afternoon and into the evening.

According to Lt. Michael Rapoza, the department’s Public Information Officer, the officer driving the cruiser was responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated when the accident occurred.

The officer was traveling north on Pawtucket Avenue towards the Rumford section of the city.

A total of four vehicles, including the cruiser, were involved. The officer and two other occupants of cars connected to the incident were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The EPPD Traffic Division is currently investigating the crash. Rapoza said updates will be provided when any further information is learned from the inquiry.
