'Night Lights' at Blithewold

Blithewold’s breathtaking “Night Lights” display, featuring illuminated paths with  custom light displays, handmade bamboo ornaments, and all the beauty of Blithewold’s gardens and arboretum, returns for a second year. The mansion is closed but the grounds are open for nighttime strolls. Non-alcoholic hot drinks, and hot drinks with a kick provided by RI Cruisin’ Cocktails. Registration is required.


WHAT: ‘Night Lights’

WHEN: Wed.-Sun., Nov. 26-Jan. 9; 5 to 7 p.m.

WHERE: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum, 101 Ferry Road, Bristol

ADMISSION: Rates from $3 to $10; register at blithewold.org

Member adults: $7
Member children: $3
Non-member adults: $10
Non-member children: $5

MORE INFO: Registration is required. To control the number of people at any one time, you’ll be asked to select one of three arrival times. Most visitors will spend about an hour on the property; but, if your group would like to stay longer you can do that too.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
