PORTSMOUTH — Newport Cannabis Co., the state’s newest cannabis dispensary, will open its doors over Labor Day weekend with a three-day celebration at its new location, 1637 West Main Road.
The site was formerly occupied by Greenleaf Compassion Center, one of the three original medical dispensaries in Rhode Island but which was placed in receivership last year.
The festivities kick off Friday, Aug. 29, with food trucks, live music, and storewide promotions from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Specials and discounts will continue throughout the weekend, with what the company is calling “unique deals unavailable anywhere else.”
For those who cannot attend in person, the store will also feature Rhode Island’s only same-day statewide cannabis delivery service.
“This is a celebration of community as much as it is a celebration of our new location,” said Octavius Prince, CEO and owner of Newport Cannabis Co. and founder of Hangar 420, a well-known local cannabis cultivator.
As part of the opening, the company will donate 10 percent of sales from its in-house brands to the Potter League for Animals, a Middletown nonprofit dedicated to the welfare of companion animals across Rhode Island.
Newport Cannabis Co. describes itself as Rhode Island’s leading cannabis retailer, offering an expansive product selection, knowledgeable staff, and a focus on education, compliance, and community service. The Portsmouth shop marks its first retail location.
The dispensary will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit newportcanna.com.
