The Bristol County Water Authority's board of directors is close to hiring a new executive director, following the announcement earlier this fall that Pamela Marchand will retire in February.
Since putting out an advertisement for the position, the board has reviewed 22 applications for the post, which pays $158,000 per year. Those 22 were narrowed down to five by the board's personnel subcommittee. After further review and discussion, two candidates were selected for interviews, which were held twice last month.
According to Ms. Marchand, "the board is now finalizing contract negotiations with the selected candidate and will probably make an announcement at a meeting of the board some time next week."
Ms. Marchand, a Providence water supply engineer who was hired by the authority in 2012, said she has no plans to accept another position elsewhere once her current three-year term is up, and will retire to New Hampshire.
