The art of working with natural fibers took center stage at the Rhode Island Wool and Fiber Festival at Coggeshall Farm Museum on Saturday, May 16.
The living museum of a working 18-century farm welcomed artisans, vendors and producers of wool and natural fibers from across the Northeast for a day of public celebration and exhibition.
Visitors were treated to craft demonstrations, including watching a master sheep shearer at work on Coggeshall’s own Gulf Coast Native sheep. The festival also included displays of handcrafted items and natural fibers, local food, old-fashioned games, kids’ crafts and acoustic music.
The 48-acre Coggeshall Farm Museum is located at 1 Colt Drive, off Poppasquash Road in Bristol. The farm is open for Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.coggeshallfarm.org or call 401-942-6325.
