Nancy M. Dawson, 82, of Westport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022. She was the loving wife of Alec B. Dawson, OBE, and mother of Bruce S Dawson, David A. Dawson, and Anne Marshall (Dawson) Brown.
Born in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Judge Hugh Morton and Anne Marshall (Boos) Morton. Nancy attended Radcliffe, where she met the love of her life. She spent her childhood in Fall River Mass., a city that remained dear to her for her entire life. In 1970 she moved to St. Andrew’s, Scotland, where she involved herself in the community becoming an active member of the Scottish Women’s (Rural) Institute, volunteering to help with the aged as well as volunteering with the riding for the disabled.
Upon her return to the United States, she made Westport her home. There she continued her volunteer work by serving as a Trustee of the Westport Free Public Library. She was a member of the Friday Club and an avid golfer and lifelong member of the Acoaxet Club and Elephant Rock Beach Club.
Nancy is survived by three children:; David A. Dawson of Plant City, Fla., Anne M. Brown of Westport, Mass., and Rose (Esson) Dawson (daughter-in-law) of Westport, Mass.; five grandchildren: Sarah J. Dawson, James D. Dawson, Jarrett B. Brown, Nathaniel S. Brown and J.E.B. Brown; a brother, Hugh Morton of Westport, Mass., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was the wife of the late Alec B. Dawson, OBE of Westport and mother of the late Bruce S. Dawson of Westport.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, MA 02790.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
