Starting Monday, August 26, through Friday, August 30, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), intends to close the Nanaquaket Pond Bridge, between Bridgeport Road and Highland Road, on Route 77 (Main Road) in Tiverton.
With minor concrete repairs nearing completion, the closure will allow crews to pave and waterproof the bridge deck. Motorists are advised to follow a signed detour using Nanaquaket Road to the east, and Bulgarmarsh Road to the west. A detour map is available at www.ridot.net/detour.
Remaining work on the project includes patching under the bridge. Full project completion is slated for mid-September.
All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.
Repairs to the Nanaquaket Pond Bridge in Tiverton, part of an $8 million, 21-bridge contract for Aquidneck Island and parts of South County, are made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair.
