The Mt. Hope High School gymnastics team won the Rhode Island Division II championship, and senior Victoria Gendreau placed second in the individual all-around competition at the RIIL State Gymnastics Meet at Rhode Island College on Sunday night. The title was the first in six years for the Huskies, who went undefeated with a record of 10-0.
Head coach Nicole Daniello's team was comprised of three seniors, Jordan Masaitis, Kelsey Gonzalez and Victoria Gendreau; junior Skylar Kallman; sophomores Ashley Heald and Brianna Gendreau; and freshmen Jayme Foreman, Kaitlin Quinn, Meghan Oliver, Emilie Donato, Katie Donato and Kaira Lawrence.
"I'm really proud of the team this year. My heart was pounding, I was so proud when we won," said Victoria Gendreau.
