Mr. Chicken is coming to Warren

Portuguese and other food highlights spot planned in former Simone’s

Mr. Chicken is coming to Warren, but that doesn’t begin to tell the story of what Humberto Correia will offer when he opens his restaurant in the former Simone’s at 275 Child St. in late summer.
Mr. Correia, who received a liquor license from the Warren Town Council Tuesday night, owns another Mr. Chicken on Bedford Street in Fall River. That location offers chicken, yes, but also a wide selection of Portuguese food, seafood, ribs and more. Warren will be very similar:
“It’s going to have everything,” he said Wednesday.
A quick look at the Fall River location’s menu shows a wide range of Portuguese dishes from bacalhua specialties (cod), polvo assado (octopus), to pork and other standards. There are even hard to find items like lapas (limpets), Madeira-style skewered meat, liver, goat, rabbit, tripe, fava bean dishes and more. For dessert, there are malassadas and many other sweets.
Mr. Correia does not own the location yet, but said the sale will progress over the next few months. He believes it will seat 80 to 120 guests, and he plans to open in August or September.
